Doggystylerv.com is dedicated to handsome Cody who was one of our original traveling companions. When I first saw this cute rat terrier puppy, he peeked up shyly at me, looked away, and looked back again. Our eyes met and that was that.

Cody was foremost a gentleman. He was kind and he turned out to be a patient “daddy” to our new puppy, Little Binski, who liked to gnaw on his ears.

Cody was a member of our family for almost 16 years when he got thin and finally went blind. That really frustrated him. But even though he was blind he trusted me to take him on sniffy walks on our RV trips. On our last trip he was waiting inside near the RV door when I brought Binski back from a walk. As I opened the door, he started to fall down into the stairwell. Fortunately, I reached out in time and his paw landed on the palm of my hand. He didn’t fall, but it was a sign that if I waited much longer he would injure himself and have to suffer. And I sure did not want that for him.

When we got home I called our vet for the dreaded conversation. He came to the house and examined him. He noticed a growth on his side and explained that Cody’s time was coming to an end. Finally, I held Cody and whispered in his ear as the vet put the needle in. Cody’s head fell limp and, with that, our precious journey together was done.

 

We really miss our co-pilot, Cody. But he travels with us in spirit.
